Project Carol

Hi everyone, today i have started Project Carol this is for my sister Carol who is 45 and has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Well this week was her first week of Chemo, which will go on for 3 months then 6 wks of radiation therapy and then her operation. So as you can imagine the next 6-8 months at least will be very challenging for her. I thought it would be nice if i could make an afghan blanket for her with granny squares, but seeing as i would like her to have a reasonably big one i got to thinking that it would take me too long to do.
So i came up with an idea thanks to Ravelry.com and their RAK group (random act of kindness) group. I thought if i could get enough people to make a few squares each and give them something in return, then i may have a chance of getting a blanket completed before she finishes her treatment. I have been crocheting like mad for the past year, baby clothes in fact as i have just become a grandmother for the second time. Problem is though that i went a bit mad and made too many lol So i have had a sort out of crafts that i have made, and other things that i could offer in return for a few squares for Carols blanket. I have already posted all of the baby clothes on offer, tomorrow i will try and list handmade earrings and bracelets that i have made aswell.
What i am offering is one item (each photo or listing is one item), in return i am asking for at least six 5 1/2 to 6 " squares. I was hoping to make a blanket in a combination of pinks, purples, lilac, creams, whites or pale yellow. I don't really mind the weight of the yarn or mixture as long as its DK or thicker. It would be nice to have different types of granny squares and the basic ones.. Each of my items are brand new and never been worn. Please contact me if you feel you can help, let me know which item you would like so i can remove the photo as soon as it is promised.
please follow the links below for all of the items on offer..

  1. I'm so sorry about your sister's diagnosis. What kind of cancer does she have? I'll gladly help. I think I may already have a few white & soft white ones made up. Even if I don't, I'll gladly make some more. What kind of time frame are you hoping for?
I'll be praying for her as well.
    Hugs & Blessings,

  3. I am sorry to hear about your sister and I hope the treatment is kind to her.
Depending on timeframe I'd be happy to crochet 6 squares but couldn't start until towards the end of next week.

  5. Channelle, count me in. Not sure that I have soft enough yarn so I may not get going on these until the weekend or next week. I'll let you know when I have some ready. In the meantime, sending prayers and love to your sister and to you. God bless.
